  • 1 July 2011 - Agreement to unite the New Zealand Jewellery industry - At a special meeting held in Auckland on Wednesday, 29th June 2011, the Jewellery Association of New Zealand (JANZ) Executive met and, by unanimous agreement, voted to “support the establishment of a voluntary National Jewellery Body to include all associations within the New Zealand Jewellery Industry”.  This reiterates one of JANZ’s main objectives being “to unite the industry”.   • 14 June 2011 - Christchurch CBD Rebuild still a Top Priority - On Thursday June 9th the Board of the New Zealand Retailers Association held their bi-monthly meeting in Christchurch. They took the opportunity to meet with a number of senior retailers from Christchurch and they visited part of the city. The Board were totally supportive of the retailers’ objective of re-building the city centre. Read the media release

  • 12 October 2009 - New Zealand Retailers Association welcomes the launch of Crimestoppers NZ  Crimestoppers gives New Zealanders an avenue to anonymously pass on information about crime and criminals to law enforcement agencies.  The public campaign has been highly visible, but of particular interest to our members will be the Integrity Line for whistleblowers within businesses to inform on colleagues who may be acting illegally - fraud, theft, harrassment, bullying or corruption.  You can read further information on CrimeStoppers here Crimestoppers.pdf.

  • 5 October 2009 - Following recent announcements of settlements with Visa and Mastercard the Commerce Commission today announced it has also settled separately with seven financial institutions over Credit Card Interchange Fees. Read that announcement. 

    The settlements between the Commerce Commission and Visa, MasterCard and the Finance Institutions are a significant development for the retail industry.  The Association has in the past managed to secure on behalf of its membership, preferential rates for acquiring, and we are excited at the opportunities now open to us as a result of the settlements.  We will keep the membership informed of progress.
